Uba Sani Names Jerry Adams as New Running Mate for 2027 Election, Drops First Female Deputy

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has named the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

Adams is expected to replace the current Deputy Governor, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who has served in the office since May 29, 2019.

She first served under former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and retained the position under Governor Uba Sani following the 2023 election.

Announcing the decision on Tuesday, the governor said the nomination followed wide consultations, careful reflection and prayers.

He described the choice as a strategic move aimed at strengthening unity, promoting peace and deepening inclusive governance in Kaduna State.

Sani said his administration remains committed to ensuring that every resident, regardless of ethnic or religious background, has a sense of belonging.

Administration Focused on Development and Peace

The governor said that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, his administration has focused on healing longstanding divisions while extending development projects to all 23 local government areas of the state.

According to him, investments have been made in road construction, education, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection.

Explaining his choice, Sani described Adams as an accomplished public servant and tax administrator who has transformed KADIRS through innovation, transparency and professionalism.

He said the agency’s improved revenue generation has strengthened the state’s financial capacity, enabling greater investment in infrastructure, healthcare, education and agriculture.

The governor also described Adams as a man of integrity, humility and strong character, adding that his nomination reflects the administration’s commitment to merit, competence and accountability in public service.

Calls for Support

Sani urged Kaduna residents to support the joint ticket and rise above ethnic, religious and regional differences in pursuit of peace, unity and sustainable development.

He expressed confidence that his administration would build on its achievements and leave behind a more secure, united and economically prosperous Kaduna State.
