The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has opened applications for its 2026–2027 Scholarship Programme.
The initiative targets outstanding students and researchers from IsDB member countries and Muslim communities in non-member states.
Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, shared the announcement on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.
The scholarship supports higher education and research that strengthen human capital and promote sustainable development. Applicants must submit their entries online before January 31, 2026.

Pantami said the Professor Isa Pantami Foundation (PIP Foundation) shared the opportunity as part of its commitment to education, empowerment, and community development across Africa.
He encouraged eligible candidates to take advantage of the programme to advance their academic and professional goals.
The announcement triggered mixed reactions on social media. Many users welcomed the opportunity and praised the initiative for expanding access to education funding.
Others questioned the religious focus of the scholarship. Some critics raised concerns about inclusivity and national unity, while a few made controversial claims about the programme’s intent.
Supporters, however, dismissed the criticisms and described the scholarship as a legitimate educational intervention.

The IsDB scholarship scheme has supported education and research for decades. The programme aims to produce skilled professionals who return to contribute to development in their home countries.
Education experts say international scholarships remain vital, especially for students in developing economies facing limited funding.
