The 2023 presidential candidate of the Accord Party, Christopher Imumolen, has withdrawn his support for Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun State, and declared his backing for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Imumolen announced his position on Thursday at the APC campaign rally held in Osogbo, the state capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
He said he had decided to withdraw his support for Adeleke and urged members of the Accord Party in Osun to vote for Oyebamiji, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
“As the national chairman of the Accord party, with my working committee, who are all here, we have stepped down our support for Ademola Adeleke, and today we declare our support for AMBO.
“Come on, Saturday, all Accord members in Osun State should go to the polling units and vote for AMBO,” Imumolen said.
The development comes despite the endorsement of Adeleke’s re-election bid by the Accord leadership recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Accord Party, led by Maxwell Mgbudem, had adopted Adeleke as its candidate for the election.
Imumolen had also recently withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race and endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
He said his decision to step down from the presidential contest was driven by the need to promote national unity, stability and continued development rather than pursue personal political ambition.
He also said his support for Tinubu was based on his assessment of the president’s leadership and reform agenda.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday.
