Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.
The governor assented to the bill on Thursday at the Government House in Port Harcourt shortly after the Rivers State House of Assembly passed it.
The bill was approved unanimously by 26 lawmakers during the Assembly’s resumed sitting in Port Harcourt.
Budget Covers 2026–2027 Fiscal Year
The Assembly transmitted the approved bill to Fubara for his assent after its passage.
According to the lawmakers, the budget will cover the fiscal year ending September 2, 2027.
The passage followed a delay in the consideration and approval of the budget by the Assembly.

First Budget Approved Under Amaewhule
Fubara had on June 25 presented the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework to the Assembly as part of the process for preparing the state’s 2026 budget.
The passage of the appropriation bill marks the first time the Assembly, under Speaker Martin Amaewhule, has approved a budget for the state since the administration came into office.
