The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has reminded airlines that passengers are entitled to care, including meals and hotel accommodation, during prolonged flight delays.
The Commission said airlines are legally required to provide refreshments after extended waiting periods, while passengers affected by overnight delays must be offered hotel accommodation and transport.

In a statement signed by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, FCCPC stressed that passengers also have the right to timely information on the cause of delays and expected departure times.
It warned that failure to comply with these obligations could attract sanctions, urging passengers to report cases where airlines fail to provide the required support.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumer rights in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
