Fire Razes FIRS Office in Abuja, No Casualties Recorded

A fire broke out at a Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office in Abuja on the morning of Saturday, December 20, 2025.

This was confirmed in a statement released by the agency on Saturday. According to the statement, the incident occurred at the FIRS office located at No. 15 Sokode Crescent, Wuse Zone 5.

It said its security personnel on duty responded promptly and with support of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and other emergency responders, the fire was successfully put out.

Part of the statement reads: “The fire, which broke out on the fourth floor of the building, was promptly responded to by our security personnel on duty.

“With the swift support of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and other emergency responders, the fire was successfully contained and prevented from spreading further.”

FIRS said no life was lost in the incident, but several offices on the affected floor sustained damage.

The agency assured that a full investigation into the Cause of the fire has commenced, even as preliminary assessments indicate it could be due to an electrical fault.

The FIRS management confirmed that all internal safety protocols are being reviewed and strengthened to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

“In the meantime, all internal safety protocols are being thoroughly reviewed and strengthened to mitigate against future occurrences,” the agency added.

Videos circulating on social media show flames destroying parts of the building, triggering panic in the area.
