The Federal Government has officially unveiled Miss Nigeria, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, as Nigeria’s representative to the 2026 Miss World Pageant scheduled to hold in Vietnam.
Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, announced this during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, describing the pageant as a global platform for leadership, culture, social impact and women’s empowerment.
According to the minister, Karibi-George will represent Nigeria at the 75th edition of the Miss World Pageant, where she will compete alongside contestants from about 130 countries.
She said the beauty contest had evolved beyond physical appearance and now provides an opportunity for young women to showcase intellect, leadership, purpose and advocacy on a global stage.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim noted that Nigeria’s participation would help promote the country’s cultural heritage, strengthen its international image and highlight the talent and potential of Nigerian women.
“This is about a great deal more than a crown. Our participation is an opportunity to present the richness of our cultural heritage to the world, promote our fast-growing creative economy, strengthen our national image abroad and place the talent, intelligence and ambition of the Nigerian woman where the world can see them clearly,” she said.
Karibi-George To Serve as a Cultural Ambassador
The minister described the event as a form of cultural diplomacy that aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of youth development, women’s leadership and national image projection.
She said Karibi-George would serve as a cultural ambassador, carrying Nigeria’s story and inspiring millions of young girls across the country.
“When this young woman walks onto that stage, she does not walk alone. She goes as a cultural ambassador. She carries the story of a nation and the aspirations of millions of our girls who will be watching and believing that they too can achieve greatness,” the minister added.
To honour the country’s representative ahead of the competition, the ministry announced plans to host a high-level reception for Karibi-George on August 5, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim said the ministry would provide full institutional support to ensure a successful outing for Miss Nigeria, including preparations, travel arrangements and welfare throughout the competition.
She also commended the Miss Nigeria Organisation, partner institutions and other government agencies for their collaboration in promoting Nigeria’s image on the international stage.
The minister urged Nigerians to support and pray for the country’s representative as she prepares to compete at the global event.
She added that regardless of the outcome of the competition, Karibi-George had already achieved a significant milestone by earning the opportunity to represent Nigeria before a global audience.
The 2026 Miss World Pageant will mark the 75th anniversary of the international competition and is expected to attract contestants from across the world.
