Damagum Hands Over to Turaki-led PDP NWC

Former acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has formally handed over to the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee.

The handover took place at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The tenure of the Damagum-led NWC expired on December 8, 2025, after months of internal conflict with a faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at the ceremony, Damagum said the new NWC has the responsibility to reposition the party.

“We were able to surmount all the obstacles we faced, and we will continue to overcome them,” he said. He expressed optimism about the party’s future, insisting the PDP remains the party to beat despite the hurdles before it.

He warned that those responsible for the crisis in the party may enjoy temporary relief but would eventually face the consequences of their actions.

Turaki, in his remarks, praised the outgoing NWC for its effort and pledged to work for the unity and progress of the PDP.
