Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), less than 24 hours to the party’s governorship primary election in the state.
A letter announcing his resignation surfaced on Monday, although it was dated November 4, 2025. In the letter, Adeleke attributed his decision to the lingering leadership crisis within the PDP.
“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the letter read.

Adeleke also expressed appreciation to the party for backing his previous political ambitions, stating: “I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party.”
Reacting to the development, the PDP Chairman in Osun State, Sunday Bisi, confirmed on Monday that the party would no longer conduct Tuesday’s primary election due to the factional dispute rocking the state chapter.
He further disclosed that the governor was no longer interested in contesting for the party’s ticket as a result of the crisis.
