The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has released its provisional timetable for the 2026 local government primary elections in Anambra State.
The party made this known in a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by its National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara.
He said the timetable was approved in line with the provisions of APGA’s constitution and the schedule of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
According to the timetable, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will take place at APGA’s Awka Regional Secretariat from January 27 to February 6.
Primaries, Appeals to Hold in Awka
The statement said screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants will be conducted between February 7 and 11 across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards in the state.
It added that appeals arising from the screening exercise will be considered on February 13, while ward congresses to elect councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates are slated for February 14.
“The chairmanship primary election will hold on February 15, while appeals arising from the primaries will be handled on February 16, all in Awka,” the statement said.
APGA also fixed the cost of chairmanship nomination forms at ₦6 million and councillorship forms at ₦600,000.
It noted that female aspirants and persons with disabilities will pay 50 per cent of the stipulated fees.
The party stressed that all payments are non-refundable and warned that the dates may be subject to adjustment.
It further urged prospective aspirants to strictly adhere to the guidelines and electoral regulations governing the primaries.
