ADC Not Planning to Hold State, LG Congresses — David Mark

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it is not planning to hold state or local government congresses at this time.

The party was reacting to a publication which quoted its National Chairman, Senator David Mark, as directing members to conduct state and local government congresses to elect new officials.

ADC described the report as false, insisting that the publication did not emanate from the party and should be disregarded.

In a statement jointly signed by the Kogi State Chairman of the party and Chairman of the ADC Chairmen’s Forum, Hon. Kingsley Temitope Ogga, and the Edo State ADC Chairman and Secretary of the forum, Hon. Kennedy Odion, the party said the alleged directive was a fabrication.

The statement said members of the ADC Chairmen’s Forum met with Senator Mark on Monday, during which the national chairman categorically denied issuing or authorising any such directive.

Publication Did Not Originate from My Office

According to the party, Senator Mark told the forum that the publication calling for state and local government congresses did not originate from his office and was unknown to the National Working Committee (NWC).

“The National Chairman stated clearly that he neither authorised nor had prior knowledge of the document circulated in one newspaper, and that it did not emanate from the National Working Committee of the party,” the statement said.

It added that the publication was illegal, invalid and of no effect, urging party members, stakeholders and the general public to completely disregard it.

“Accordingly, any claims, notices or insinuations suggesting that congresses will be held across the states of the federation for the ADC at the local government and state levels are false and should be disregarded in their entirety,” the party said.

The ADC chairmen also reaffirmed their loyalty to the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee and pledged their continued commitment to the party’s growth and success.

“We reiterate our unalloyed loyalty to the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee and our commitment to the party’s success in all upcoming elections, including the 2027 general elections,” the statement added.
