The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified grassroots mobilisation in Kogi Central ahead of the 2027 general elections, with supporters in Okehi Local Government Area declaring support for the re-election of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Party loyalists, youths, women and other stakeholders participated in a solidarity road walk in Okehi on Thursday to canvass support for Akpoti-Uduaghan and other PDP candidates ahead of the elections.
The senator represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Speaking during the exercise, the Kogi Central PDP 2027 Campaign Director-General, Alhaji Salami Etudaiye, described the mobilisation as evidence of what he called the growing strength of the party at the grassroots.
Etudaiye said Akpoti-Uduaghan’s first term had given constituents the opportunity to assess her performance and capacity, adding that the 2027 election should be used to consolidate the gains recorded so far.
He said a second term would enable the senator to strengthen legislative representation, expand constituency interventions and pursue programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.
According to him, the campaign would focus on infrastructure advocacy, opportunities for youths, support for women and small businesses, education and skills acquisition, healthcare interventions and projects that could create sustainable economic opportunities.

Etudaiye urged residents across Kogi Central to unite behind Akpoti-Uduaghan and other PDP candidates.
The campaign leadership also appealed to voters in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene and Ogori-Magongo local government areas to maintain unity and peaceful political engagement as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
A PDP supporter, Bashir Haroon, said the turnout for the road walk showed the confidence of supporters in Akpoti-Uduaghan and the party.
Haroon described the exercise as more than a political procession, saying it reflected the type of representation supporters wanted for Kogi Central.
He urged communities across the senatorial district to remain united and translate their support for Akpoti-Uduaghan and the PDP into votes during the 2027 elections.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was elected to represent Kogi Central in the Senate in the 2023 general elections.
Kogi Central comprises Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene and Ogori-Magongo local government areas.
Since taking office, Akpoti-Uduaghan has remained a prominent voice in the National Assembly, while her political activities and engagements have attracted national attention.
Her supporters argue that her first term has provided a foundation for further interventions in human capital development, education, youth empowerment, women’s development, infrastructure and constituency representation.
