Ahead of the 2027 governorship election, the Lagos For Prosperity Group (LPG) has endorsed Prince Adelaja Adeoye, popularly known as Laja Adeoye, as its preferred candidate to lead Lagos State.
This endorsement marks an early but significant development in the race for Alausa, positioning Adeoye as a formidable contender challenging the long-standing APC dominance in Lagos State.
In a statement released on Sunday, the group, a coalition of progressive and democratic minded citizens, committed to inclusive economic growth and sustainable development, hailed Adeoye’s track record as a visionary entrepreneur, real estate innovator, and political strategist, vowing to mobilize millions of Lagosians to ensure his emergence as the next Governor of the State.
It asserted that Adeoye’s leadership would usher in an era of genuine prosperity for all Lagosians, addressing longstanding challenges more effectively than the current All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
They added that his leadership would end godfatherism and handpicking of governors in Lagos who will not serve the interest of the people.
The statement, issued in Lagos on Sunday and signed by Mr. Kazeem Oshodi on behalf of the group, highlights Adeoye’s ability to deliver tangible results in the private sector and his deep understanding of Lagos’s economic dynamics.
“After careful assessment of the current state of affairs in Lagos, the Lagos For Prosperity Group (LPG) unequivocally endorses Prince Laja Adeoye as the next Governor of Lagos State in 2027,” part of the statement reads.

LPG stated that Adeoye “represents the fresh, innovative, and people-centered leadership that our megacity desperately needs to move beyond incremental progress to transformative prosperity for every resident, regardless of social class, location, or background.
“While we acknowledge some infrastructure strides under the present APC government, which may have come under very high or inflated cost, such as road rehabilitation and rail initiatives like the Blue Line, these efforts have often been marred by delays, incomplete execution, unequal distribution of benefits, persistent traffic gridlock in many areas, rising living costs, inadequate affordable housing, and insufficient job creation for the masses. Lagos deserves more than selective flagship projects; it needs holistic, inclusive prosperity that lifts all boats.”
The group further stated that Prince Adeoye, is a successful entrepreneur, who has demonstrated excellence in real estate development, delivering high quality, sustainable housing schemes, adding that his expertise in urban planning, and private-sector efficiency positions him to tackle Lagos’s core challenges head-on.
The advocacy group said Adeoye’s leadership would offer massive affordable housing to low-and middle-income earners in Lagos through public-private partnerships, innovative financing models, while adhering to building codes to end the housing deficit and reduce slum dwellers.
The group also assured that Adeoye’s governorship would focus on economic diversification, fostering entrepreneurship in the areas of tech, tourism, ocean economy, agriculture, and industrial hubs to generate millions of sustainable jobs, reducing reliance on oil and revenue streams from the center, and ensuring prosperity reaches youth, women, and underserved communities more equitably.
In the area of transportation, LPG said its preferred candidate would work towards expanding intra-city rail, enhancing bus rapid transit (BRT), and installing smart traffic management systems with wider coverage, to alleviate the daily suffering of commuters.
The group also said Lagosians should expect improved access to education and healthcare under Adeoye’s leadership, adding that there will be massive investments in modern schools, vocational training, digital education, Open and Distance Learning models, and quality public hospitals to build human capital and ensure wellbeing of residents.
On security and good governance, the group expressed optimism that his leadership would strengthen community/state policing, leveraging technology for crime prevention, and also promoting transparent, accountable administration that fights corruption head-on.
Sustainable environment and waste management
The group added that Adeoye would also tackle environmental issues by implementing green policies, waste-to-wealth programmes, and climate-resilient infrastructure to make Lagos cleaner, healthier, and more livable for future generations.
Local Government Autonomy
LPG also stated that Adeoye would, as part of efforts to create a lasting impact at the grassroots level, foster a competent and corrupt free local governing structure that will be empowered to do the real job and not the appendages as witnessed under the current administration.
The Lagos For Prosperity Group called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), all opposition political parties, democratic and progressive forces dissatisfied with the current state of governance to support Prince Laja Adeoye. “Together, we can build a Lagos where prosperity is not a privilege for the few but a reality for all,” the group added.
