2027: Ex-Kwara Senator Oloriegbe Declares Governorship Ambition

Former Kwara Central Senator, Ibrahim Oloriegbe, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State.

Oloriegbe submitted his letter of intent on Tuesday at the Ilorin secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally signalling his entry into the race.

The former lawmaker said the decision followed wide consultations with his family, party leaders and other stakeholders across the state.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, he said he was seeking the APC ticket as a call to serve the people of Kwara.

“By the grace of God, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, I visited the state secretariat of our party, the APC, to formally submit my letter declaring my intention to seek the party’s ticket for the 2027 governorship election,” he said.

“I am joining the race as a duty call to serve the people of our state after months of consultations with my family, party leadership and stakeholders who are committed to the progress of Kwara and the APC.”

Oloriegbe said he used the visit to present his vision for the state, expressing readiness to take on the responsibility of leading Kwara.

He added that his emergence as the party’s flagbearer would send a strong message to residents ahead of the election.

Oloriegbe Calls on Supporters to Support His Ambition

The Ex-lawmaker added that he was received at the party secretariat by the state chairman, Sunday Adeniran, and members of the state working committee, who welcomed him.

According to him, Adeniran commended his loyalty to the party and noted that his record in the Senate and other public offices had reflected positively on the APC.

Oloriegbe called on party members and supporters to support his ambition.

“I look forward to your support as we begin this journey,” he said.

Oloriegbe represented Kwara Central in the ninth National Assembly and later served as the state’s Amirul-Hajj in 2024. He currently chairs the governing council of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
