Africa’s richest industrialist, Aliko Dangote, has been named in the 2026 TIME100 list of the world’s most influential people, reinforcing his global standing as a key driver of industrial growth on the continent.
The list, released on April 15 by TIME Magazine, features leading figures across politics, business, technology and culture, including Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, Mark Carney and Pope Leo XIV.
Dangote, founder of the Dangote Group, is the only Nigerian on the 2026 list and was recognised under the “Titans” category.
This marks his second appearance on the prestigious list, having first been honoured in 2014.
According to TIME, Dangote earned his place for his role in driving industrialisation across Africa through investments in cement, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure and energy.

The publication highlighted his strategy of building globally competitive industries using local resources, as well as his recent large-scale investments in manufacturing and energy.
The recognition also reflects his growing global footprint, as Dangote Industries Limited continues to pursue its long-term “Vision 2030” plan aimed at expanding operations beyond Africa.
The strategy focuses on strengthening core businesses such as cement, fertiliser and energy, while exploring new opportunities in steel, power and port infrastructure.
Beyond business, Dangote was also acknowledged for his philanthropic efforts through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which supports healthcare, education and economic empowerment initiatives.
Other notable figures on the list include technology leaders such as Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan, alongside entertainers like Ranbir Kapoor, Dakota Johnson and Kate Hudson.
Explaining its selection process, TIME said, “All year, we debate who belongs on the TIME100. There is no single metric that defines influence. Our selections are led by the stories that are shaping the world each year and the people who write them.”
The magazine added, “As we close this year’s list and think about how much has changed since that ‘tough’ Dolores Huerta appeared first in TIME, we are eager to see which of the individuals in this issue will still be wielding influence more than 50 years from today.”
