Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, says the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi, in October 2022 profoundly transformed his life and career outlook.
Ifeanyi, Davido’s three-year-old son with wife Chioma, drowned in a swimming pool at their Banana Island home in Lagos. Speaking in a recent interview, Davido shared how the heartbreaking experience forced him to step back and re-evaluate his priorities.
Davido expressed pride in how he and Chioma managed to overcome the grief, noting that their resilience has inspired many. “I know how many people randomly come to me at the airport to tell me how my strength inspired them in hard times,” he said.

The singer described their journey as a remarkable bounce back, with the couple now parents to twins. “For us to be able to go through the loss of our son and bounce back in a major way is huge,” Davido said, adding that the experience has given him a renewed sense of direction both personally and professionally.
