The United States government has restated its commitment to supporting Nigerian students, innovators and future leaders aspiring to study in America.

Speaking at the 2025 EducationUSA Nigeria Fair in Abuja on Monday, U.S. Embassy Public Diplomacy Officer Brian Neubert said the U.S. remains a strong partner in empowering young Nigerians through access to quality education and international opportunities.

The annual fair, themed “Empowering Futures: Discover American Excellence in Education and Innovation”, connects prospective students with U.S. colleges and universities. It also provides parents and counsellors the chance to explore admission requirements, scholarships, financial aid and academic programmes.

Neubert revealed that 28 American institutions took part in this year’s event, all eager to recruit Nigerian students.

“The United States is proud to partner with Nigeria in empowering students, who are the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers,” he said.

“EducationUSA brought them here because they want to recruit Nigerian students to their campuses.”

He explained that EducationUSA offers free counselling services to guide students through the complex application process.

Neubert also urged applicants to comply with U.S. visa regulations if admitted, stressing the importance of making the most of their time abroad and bringing home valuable experiences to contribute to Nigeria’s growth.

“As you consider your next steps, know that you are joining a long tradition of Nigerian students who have excelled in U.S. institutions and gone on to make significant contributions to their communities and the world,” he added.

The EducationUSA Nigeria Fair has grown into a major platform for promoting educational ties, with thousands of Nigerians securing places in U.S. universities each year.
