Türkiye and Nigeria have launched the Türkiye–Nigeria Shipbuilding and Maritime Digital Exhibition and Forum 2026, a joint initiative aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in shipbuilding, maritime infrastructure, investment and skills development.
The forum, which began on July 20, 2026, is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, coordinated by the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GİSBİR) under the Shipbuilding Industries Cluster Project, and implemented in collaboration with the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council (NTBC).
Hosted on the DAMISE digital platform, with the NTBC serving as the local partner, the initiative seeks to deepen strategic partnerships between the two countries while promoting international collaboration across the maritime and shipbuilding industries.
According to the organisers, the forum brings together government institutions, maritime industry leaders, financial institutions, academia and businesses from both countries to explore opportunities in shipbuilding, ship repair and maintenance, maritime infrastructure, maritime investment and workforce development.
The programme includes strategic panel discussions, webinars, digital exhibition sessions, international business-to-business meetings, live media engagements and digital product and company launches with multilingual voiceovers.
It also focuses on country-specific investment and business development opportunities.

A major highlight of the programme is the high-level government dialogue scheduled for 12 noon on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Participants include Türkiye’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy; Nigeria’s Minister-Counsellor in Türkiye, Abdullahi Y. Madubi; Chairman of the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council, Dele Kelvin Oye; Secretary General of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association, Mehtap Karahallı Özdemir; Director General of the Nigeria–Türkiye Business Council, Uche Osoka; Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dayo Mobereola; Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi; and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, Usman Jada.
Others are President of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, Aminu Umar; Director General of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike; First Deputy President of NACCIMA and Chairman of Elschon Nigeria Ltd, Emi Membere-Otaji; Chairman of Starzs Investments Company Ltd., Greg Ogbeifun; and Director of IGA Ship Building and Repairs Yard, Abdulateef B. Aderinto.
The organisers said the forum consists of four main events scheduled for July 20, July 23, July 30 and August 5, while business-to-business meetings will continue throughout the period from July 20 to August 5.
According to the organisers, the initiative is expected to create new commercial opportunities, strengthen long-term maritime partnerships between Türkiye and Nigeria and provide the foundation for a joint maritime cooperation roadmap for 2027.
