The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will launch a new 10-year strategy for Nigeria’s capital market alongside a National Savings Scheme at its 2026 National Capital Market Conference on October 19 in Abuja.
The conference, scheduled to be held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, will bring together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to discuss measures to deepen the capital market and strengthen its contribution to economic development.
The Nigerian Capital Market Master Plan 2.0 (NCMMP 2.0) and the National Savings Scheme are expected to be launched at the event.
According to SEC, the conference will focus on initiatives to improve domestic resource mobilisation, increase investor participation and support sustainable economic growth and national development.

The Director-General of SEC, Dr Emomotimi Agama, said the NCMMP 2.0 would provide a 10-year framework for the development of Nigeria’s capital market.
Agama described the master plan as a critical document for measuring the growth and development of the market, adding that the endorsement of Vice-President Kashim Shettima would be important to its implementation.
The National Savings Scheme, he said, would focus on financial inclusion by creating opportunities for Nigerians across income groups to save and invest for the future.
“The National Savings Scheme is principally an inclusion tool: every Nigerian is allowed to save, and those savings will be invested for the future,” Agama said.
He added that tax incentives would be provided to encourage participation in the scheme.
According to Agama, the initiative is aligned with the Federal Government’s fiscal policy direction, including tax relief for citizens earning below a specified income threshold, which he said would leave them with more disposable income.
The conference will also feature the presentation of reports from the Capital Market Committee Technical Working Groups and the inauguration of the NCMMP 2.0 Project Steering Committee.
The Capital Market Master Plan Implementation Committee will also be inaugurated during the event.
Vice-President Shettima will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Professor Taiwo Oyedele, will be Chief Host. Agama will host the conference.
The SEC said the conference forms part of efforts to further develop Nigeria’s capital market and strengthen its role in economic growth and national development.
