Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has nominated Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, replacing the incumbent Deputy Governor, Umar Abubakar Tafida.
The announcement was made on Sunday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi during a thank-you visit by stakeholders from the Argungu Emirate.
The National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, said the decision followed legal advice on the eligibility of the incumbent deputy governor.
He said Tafida accepted the decision and stressed that there was no disagreement between the governor and his deputy.
