An Enugu Air aircraft suffered a runway excursion shortly after landing at Benin Airport on Thursday. Fortunately, all passengers and crew members on board disembarked safely without any reported injuries or casualties.
A video shared on social media showed the aircraft lying on muddy ground as passengers struggled to disembark.
In a statement, the airline confirmed that the aircraft has been secured and that relevant aviation regulatory authorities have been formally notified in accordance with standard safety protocols.
“Enugu Air wishes to inform the public that one of our aircraft into Benin experienced a runway excursion after landing today.
“We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties,” part of the statement reads.
“The aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures. An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway.”

Enugu Air said the incident may cause minor disruptions to its flight schedule.
“As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.”
Reaffirming its commitment to operational safety, Enugu Air emphasised that the safety of its passengers and crew remains its highest priority and promised to share further updates through its official channels as more details emerge.
