Tinubu Mourns Borno Attack Victims, Says Nigeria Will Not Bow to Terror

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the latest terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, vowing that Nigeria would not succumb to fear.

Reacting to Monday’s attacks in parts of the northeast state, the President reaffirmed his administration’s determination to confront and defeat terrorism and other security threats across the country.

He stressed that no part of Nigeria would serve as a haven for terrorists, declaring: “We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them.”

Tinubu also directed the nation’s service chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri and take immediate charge of the security situation in the state.

The President, while mourning those who lost their lives, expressed sympathy for the injured and solidarity with residents of Borno State.

He described the attacks as “desperate acts” by terrorist groups, noting that they were under sustained pressure from the armed forces and security agencies.

“The recent news from Maiduguri, Borno State, is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time,” he said.

He added that the attacks were “final, desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorists seeking to instil fear, as security forces continued operations against them in various parts of the country.

Tinubu commended the military and civilian task forces for repelling coordinated assaults on military positions in the state, praising their courage and resilience.

He assured Nigerians that efforts to strengthen security operations were ongoing, recalling that he had recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies during a meeting with intelligence and security chiefs.

According to him, the deployment of these resources has already commenced.

The President further directed emergency response agencies to ensure adequate medical care for those injured in the attacks.

Reiterating his administration’s stance, Tinubu said: “There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them.

“Nigeria will not succumb to fear.”
