President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday departed Abuja for a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom, where he is expected to sign key agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
The President’s aircraft, Nigeria Air Force (NAF) 001, took off from the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 10 a.m.
He was accompanied by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, following an invitation by the British monarch, King Charles III.
Tinubu was received at the airport by top government officials and security chiefs, including President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; and Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The visit is expected to culminate in the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding covering areas such as trade and investment, energy transition, solid minerals development and security cooperation.

UK Royal Family to Host Tinubu
During the visit, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will host the President and the First Lady at Windsor Castle, where a special exhibition from the Royal Collection featuring items linked to Nigeria will be displayed.
The programme will also include private talks between Tinubu and the British monarch, as well as a joint engagement with organisations involved in interfaith dialogue at national and international levels.
A state banquet will be hosted by the Royal Family in honour of the Nigerian leader and his delegation.
In addition, Tinubu is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.
The meeting is expected to further strengthen cooperation between both countries, with agreements to be signed in areas including trade, investment, defence and cultural exchange.
