Bode George Vows to Appeal Court Ruling on PDP Ibadan Convention

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has criticised the court judgement that nullified the party’s 2025 national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
George expressed his displeasure while speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, describing the ruling as deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
He faulted the judgement delivered by a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, which recognised the faction of the party backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Justice Uche Agomoh, who presided over the case, nullified the PDP National Convention held on November 15, 2025.

The court also restrained members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from parading themselves as national officers of the party.
In addition, the judgement recognised the Wike-backed faction of the PDP.
INEC Monitoring Questioned
Reacting to the ruling, George said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the Ibadan convention in line with the party’s constitutional requirements.
He questioned where and how the convention of the Wike faction was conducted and monitored, if it was monitored at all.
“The judgement from Ibadan went beyond the issues before the court. We will appeal the judgement,” George said.
Judge’s Conduct Criticised
He further criticised the conduct of the presiding judge, stating that the manner in which the ruling was delivered was inappropriate.
“The judge veered off and started talking as if she were in a beer parlour. It is unfortunate. I am absolutely disgusted by the judgement,” he added.
George said the ruling reminded him of past judicial standards, lamenting what he described as a decline in judicial quality.
“At my age, I have seen many things. People will come and go, but history will always remember whether justice was done or not,” he said.
He also warned that those responsible for the ruling would not evade accountability, stressing that justice must prevail regardless of consequences.
