The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Zamfara State has reaffirmed its resolve to conduct free, fair and credible elections ahead of the 2027 general polls.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Mahmud Isah, gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting held to mark the resumption of the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.
Isah said the credibility of the CVR exercise and the success of future elections depend largely on the collective commitment of all stakeholders, noting that INEC cannot achieve credible elections without broad cooperation.
He urged political parties, traditional institutions, security agencies, civil society groups and the media to work closely with the commission to ensure a transparent electoral process in 2027.
