Armed Bandits Abduct Niger School Students in Late-night Raid

Armed terrorists have abducted students from St. Mary’s Catholic School in the Papiri community of Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State.

The attack, which occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, plunged the rural community into panic as gunmen reportedly stormed the school premises and whisked away an unconfirmed number of pupils.

Confirming the incident, the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, said authorities are still working to determine the exact number of students taken.

“The exact number of abducted pupils is yet to be confirmed as security agencies continue to assess the situation,” he stated.

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Ellema, also confirmed the development, noting that a joint team of police tactical units and military operatives has already been deployed.

He said the combined security forces are currently combing the surrounding forests and border routes in an effort to track down the assailants and rescue the students safely.
