A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Chief Bode George, has warned former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, against taking legal action against the party over its national chairmanship process, saying such a move could attract disciplinary measures.
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme on Tuesday, George said Lamido has the constitutional right to contest the PDP national chairmanship but must respect the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms before heading to court.
“This has always been our practice in the PDP. When some leaders rally around a particular aspirant as a consensus candidate, it does not stop others from contesting,” George explained.

He noted that while the party encourages consensus to promote unity, the process remains open to all interested aspirants.
“You can pick your form, complete it, and appear at the convention. We will all vote, that’s how our party operates,” he said.
Beware of Consequences- George Warns Lamido
George cautioned against any attempt to drag the party to court before exhausting its internal channels, insisting that such defiance could lead to punishment.
“This party belongs to all of us. Before you go to court, you must explore the internal dynamics of the PDP. If you fail to do so, you can be sanctioned,” he warned.

He maintained that Lamido’s ambition was legitimate but warned that legal action could have consequences.
“He has the right to run, but if he goes to court, he can be punished. Let him get his form and contest. Nobody will deny him. The delegates will decide openly at the convention,” George stated.
Lamido had on Monday threatened to take the PDP to court if he was denied access to purchase the nomination form for the chairmanship position ahead of the party’s forthcoming national convention.
The former governor, who visited the party’s national secretariat in Abuja to obtain the form, was reportedly informed by the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, that the form was not yet available.
