A fresh crisis is brewing within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has threatened to drag the party to court after he was allegedly denied access to purchase the nomination form to contest for the position of National Chairman.
Lamido, who arrived at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Monday morning, was reportedly stopped from obtaining the form, a development he described as “unacceptable and undemocratic.”
Speaking with journalists after the incident, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed disappointment over what he called an attempt to sideline him from the forthcoming National Convention scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“I came here to buy the form for the chairmanship position, but I was denied. This is not the democracy our party stands for,” Lamido said. “If this continues, I will have no choice but to approach the court for justice.”
Lamido Declares Interest In PDP Leadership
Lamido had earlier announced his intention to contest the chairmanship position in a post on his verified Facebook page, stating that he would visit the PDP Secretariat on Monday morning to obtain the nomination form.
The development comes amid growing tension in the opposition party ahead of its national convention, where new members of the National Working Committee (NWC) are expected to emerge.
Party insiders say Lamido’s ordeal may deepen internal divisions, especially as some stakeholders have accused the leadership of attempting to impose candidates.
Meanwhile, the PDP leadership has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
