NDLEA Arrests Drug Kingpins, Foils Supply to Terrorists

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two suspected drug kingpins in Lagos after weeks of intelligence work. Officers seized consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine in the operations.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed this in a Sunday statement. According to him, 64-year-old Victor Nwosa was arrested on September 17 at his Okota home, where officers recovered 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine. Five days earlier, on September 11, operatives also nabbed 49-year-old Felix Chika Obiegbu in Aguda, Surulere, with 2.9 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Beyond Lagos, NDLEA disrupted drug supplies meant for terrorists and bandits. In Borno, officers stopped a Mercedes Benz GLK at Njimtilo village on September 27. They found 39,380 tramadol 225mg and Exol-5 pills hidden in the car engine and arrested the 26-year-old driver, Baba Kaka Ibrahim.

The same day in Yobe, operatives intercepted a woman, Halima Adamu, along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road. She carried 39 parcels of Colorado weighing 1.4 kilograms in her bag. A follow-up raid in Maiduguri later led to the arrest of another woman, Habiba Muhammad.

Elsewhere, NDLEA made arrests in Kano, Bayelsa, and Edo states. In Kano, two men—Aliyu Sani, 27, and Yahaya Tata, 26 were caught with 30,030 tramadol pills. Bayelsa operatives arrested three men at Swali Jetty with 12 kilograms of skunk and 50 live cartridges. In Edo, officers destroyed more than 24 tonnes of cannabis on nearly 10 hectares in Uromi and Ogu forests and stopped a truck loaded with 1,025 kilograms of skunk hidden in charcoal bags.

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) praised the teams for their successes, saying the agency remains determined to protect public health and national security.
