Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, of betrayal.

Wike alleged that despite his role in ensuring Damagum retained his position as PDP chairman, he has now become Damagum’s perceived enemy.

Speaking on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike claimed that Damagum would not hesitate to eliminate him if given the chance.

“I did everything, I had his lawyers, and that’s what sustained Damagum to be there,” Wike said.

“But who is Damagum’s enemy now? It is me. If there is one person Damagum wants to be killed, it is me,” he added.

Wike insisted that he had worked tirelessly to secure Damagum’s position, stressing that his support was pivotal to the chairman’s survival in office.

Meanwhile, the  former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, called on the Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) to expel Wike, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and others from the PDP.

Lamido urged the committee to sanction party members accused of openly undermining the PDP in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
