Tinubu Sacks Special Adviser on Economy Fegho Umunubo

President Bola Tinubu has approved the termination of the appointment of Fegho John Umunubo as Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy in the Office of the Vice President.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday, September 8, 2025, by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House.

“The stakeholders and constituents of the digital and creative economy, at home and abroad, as well as the general public, are hereby notified that Fegho John Umunubo, who hitherto had served as the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy (Office of the Vice President), has been disengaged with immediate effect,” the statement read in part.

The Presidency did not provide an official reason for Umunubo’s removal but cautioned stakeholders in the digital and creative economy against engaging with him on behalf of the administration.

Reports had earlier suggested that Umunubo was suspended on September 2 over an alleged breach of contract linked to the N5 billion Creative Fund initiative.
