The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on 3rd September 2025 at about 1:30 p.m. along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway by Mabushi underbridge, which claimed the lives of a couple.
According to a statement from the command, preliminary investigations revealed that a grey Toyota Highlander (registration number ABJ 206 EC), driven by Emeka Ehekweme with his wife on board, was accosted by three unidentified suspects who forcefully entered the vehicle near Berger Junction in Utako District, Abuja.

The statement, signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, explained that during the struggle for control of the steering, the vehicle lost control, struck a parked Mazda vehicle, and somersaulted into a bridge pillar.
The driver of the Highlander, his wife, and two of the assailants were confirmed dead on arrival at the National Hospital, while a third suspect is currently receiving treatment. The driver of the Mazda, Suleman Mohammed, escaped with no life-threatening injuries.

A video circulating on social media alleged that the assailants were members of the Road Transport Workers Association, who were subsequently set ablaze by an angry mob at the scene.
While commiserating with the families of the deceased, the command assured that the investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
