FCT Minister Vows to Eject Illegal Occupants, Rejects Poverty as Cover for Crime

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that all illegal occupants in Abuja will be removed, warning that he will not tolerate criminality under any guise.

Speaking at his monthly ministerial press briefing on Monday, Wike stressed that poverty cannot be used as an excuse to justify crime or kidnappings in the capital city.

“Those claiming to own land without developing it will be removed. Security is paramount, and no government should remain in power if it cannot guarantee the safety of its citizens,” he said.

He added that while poverty exists worldwide, it should never be an excuse to make people unsafe. “All over the world, including China, poverty exists, but it doesn’t justify criminality. We will not allow that in the FCT.”
