Operatives of the Police Command have arrested one David Moses, a security guard working in a school, for allegedly conspiring with his friend, Sunday Irimiya, who is on the run, to murder a carer and a toddler entrusted to her care.

A statement from the command said on 23rd July 2025, the command received a report of the sudden disappearance of Mrs Chinyere Anaene, a 55-year-old nurse at Clear Hope Foundation Academy, Dawaki, Abuja, and Nanenter Asher Yese, a one-year-and-two-month-old toddler.

The command said the suspects allegedly lured Mrs Anaene to the school bathroom, where they attacked and strangled her, while David took the child from a classroom and murdered him in the same manner, adding that their bodies were placed in a sack, transported using a scavenger’s cart, and dumped in a canal.

A statement signed by SP Josephine Adeh, the command public relations officer, said on 23rd July 2025, the command received a report of the sudden disappearance of Mrs Chinyere Anaene, a 55-year-old nurse at Clear Hope Foundation Academy, Dawaki, Abuja, and Nanenter Asher Yese, a one-year-and-two-month-old toddler.

The Command Public Relations Officer said later that day, while at the police station, the carer’s husband received a call asking for ₦250 million as ransom through the late wife’s mobile phone.

The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, according to the statement, traced the victims and suspects to Yelwa and Uke in Nasarawa State and arrested David Moses, a security guard at the school, revealing that Moses later confessed to having conspired with his best friend, Sunday Irimiya (still at large), to commit the crime.
