Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has been officially ordered to return to Napoli for pre-season training ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
However, in a surprising move, head coach Antonio Conte has excluded him from the first team, directing him instead to train with the youth squad.
Osimhen spent last season on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he had an outstanding campaign. He scored 37 goals and provided 6 assists across all competitions, helping the club secure both the league title and domestic cup.
Now back at Napoli following the expiration of his loan, expectations were high for a fresh start.
But with the new season on the horizon, Conte has made it clear that the 26-year-old is not part of his strategic plans.
Napoli Pre-Season Schedule and Osimhen’s Exclusion
Napoli’s official pre-season schedule kicks off with medical tests on July 14 and 15. Full training will commence in Dimaro, Trentino Alto Adige, from July 17 to 27. After a short two-day break, preparations will resume in Castel Di Sangro (Abruzzo) from July 30 to August 14.
Despite being expected to join the squad during this period, Osimhen will not participate in any tactical or technical drills with the first team. Instead, he will maintain physical fitness by training separately with the youth team.

Transfer Uncertainty Clouds Osimhen’s Future
One major reason for Osimhen’s exclusion is his clear intention to leave the club.
Although Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal met his €75 million release clause, the forward turned down the offer. With no other clubs currently matching that valuation, his future remains uncertain.
This is not the first time Osimhen has faced such treatment.
He was previously sent home from a training camp under similar circumstances when transfer talks stalled.
What’s Next for Osimhen?
As it stands, Victor Osimhen will remain with Napoli unless a suitable transfer offer materialises. Until then, he will train apart from the main squad under Conte’s directive.
