Ronaldinho Set for Stunning Return as Italian Club Plans Comeback Deal

Brazilian football legend and former Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldinho, is reportedly set to come out of retirement at the age of 46 to join Italian third-tier club Ravenna in a move that has generated excitement across the football world.

According to reports by Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the former World Cup winner was scheduled to sign an agreement in Miami and was already in the United States for the ongoing FIFA World Cup activities.

A source close to the negotiations reportedly confirmed that discussions between the Brazilian icon and the Italian club were at an advanced stage.

Football Legend Eyes New Chapter

Expressing his enthusiasm about a possible return to competitive football, Ronaldinho said he was eager to create new memories with the club and its ownership.

“I can’t wait to get back dancing with the ball again and to write a new story with Ignazio Cipriani and his entire family,” he was quoted as saying.

The former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star added that football had always been a source of joy in his life and that he hoped to bring the same spirit and excitement to Ravenna.

More Than a Playing Role?

Despite the excitement surrounding the announcement, questions remain over how much Ronaldinho will actually feature on the pitch.

Ravenna vice-president, Ariedo Braida, suggested the move could be driven more by commercial and marketing considerations than by footballing needs.

While describing Ronaldinho as a magical player and a major acquisition for the club, Braida admitted there was no guarantee the Brazilian would play competitive matches.

“He will have his registration, that’s a huge coup for us. Will he play at 46? That depends, but he’ll be registered,” he said.

Ronaldinho has not played professional football since a brief two-month spell with Fluminense FC in 2015.

If the deal is completed and he takes to the field, it would mark a remarkable return for one of football’s most celebrated entertainers more than a decade after his last professional appearance.
