Oliseh Advises Super Eagles to Take Mozambique Seriously in AFCON Round of 16

Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, has urged Eric Chelle’s side to approach their AFCON 2025 Round of 16 clash with Mozambique with seriousness and discipline. The match, set for Monday night, will decide which team advances to the quarter-finals.

“Every team is under pressure at this knockout stage. The Super Eagles must remember that no team in the Round of 16 is weak. You cannot take any opponent for granted,” Oliseh told Global Football Insight.

Oliseh advised Nigeria to mirror the focus and intensity displayed in their last group-stage game against Uganda.

“The Mozambique game must be taken seriously from the start. Players need to play with the same spirit they showed against Uganda. Mozambique finished third in their group, so Nigeria are clear favourites, but that doesn’t mean they should relax,” he said.

The former midfielder also warned against underestimating Mozambique.

“Anybody who underrates Mozambique should be ready to pick up the flight ticket back home. They are a very good team, and defeating them will further boost our tactical confidence,” Oliseh added.
