The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) witnessed heartbreak for four nations as Sudan, Tunisia, Tanzania, and South Africa bowed out at the Round of 16 stage in Morocco.
The exits came after Sunday’s intense knockout clashes, leaving fans and pundits reflecting on the fine margins that separate triumph from disappointment in Africa’s premier football tournament.
Tanzania’s hopes of reaching the quarter-finals ended when the host nation, Morocco, edged them 1–0 in a closely contested match. Despite spirited efforts, Tanzania could not breach Morocco’s defence, ending their tournament campaign.
