Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has predicted that the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will see top teams begin exiting at the quarter-final stage.
So far, the tournament has produced no major upsets, with all eight quarter-finalists ranking among Africa’s top 10 countries according to the latest FIFA rankings.

The quarter-final matchups are:
- Morocco vs Cameroon (hosts Morocco)
- Nigeria vs Algeria
- Mali vs Senegal
- Egypt vs Ivory Coast
Oliseh made the prediction in response to a tweet by BBC Sport broadcaster John Bennett, who noted that the tournament had produced “no huge surprises yet” ahead of the quarter-finals.

Quoting Bennett, Oliseh wrote: “Spot on. So far, no huge surprises yet! But this is where it ends!”
