The Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said his political journey exposed him to numerous betrayals, stressing that loyalty in Nigerian politics is rare.
Jonathan spoke in Benin City, Edo State, at the 70th birthday celebration of his former Chief of Staff and ex-Deputy Governor of Edo State, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe.

“You find it difficult to see somebody who will say the same thing in the morning and in the evening. I’ve witnessed a lot of betrayals, especially during my 2015 election, and Mike is somebody who would take a bullet on my behalf,” Jonathan declared.
Reflecting on his political experience, Jonathan said Oghiadomhe stood out as one of the few allies who never wavered in loyalty.
“I became president, then post-presidency, one of the few friends that can give up their necks for me is Mike. You know politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals.
Representing Governor Monday Okpebholo, Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa described Oghiadomhe as a foundation builder whose legacies continue to guide the state.
Former Governor Lucky Igbinedion praised his former deputy, saying he had full confidence in leaving the affairs of the state in Oghiadomhe’s care whenever he traveled.
Also speaking, Senator Adams Oshiomhole said Oghiadomhe always made his allegiance clear, stressing that his loyalty to Jonathan was unshaken. He further commended Oghiadomhe’s wife, Louisa, for her steadfast support.
The ceremony was graced by political leaders, including former governors Lucky Igbinedion, Osarhiemen Osunbor, Adams Oshiomhole, and Ibrahim Dakwambo of Gombe State.
