The National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daniel Woyengikuro, has said the party could offer former President Goodluck Jonathan an automatic ticket to contest the 2027 presidential election.
However, he stressed that Jonathan would have to return to the party and play a more active political role.
Woyengikuro made this known during an interview.
“Is he not the best candidate for us at this moment?” he asked. “He is not just a former president; he is the leader of the party now.”
He added that, aside from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Jonathan is the next most senior and respected figure in the PDP.

When asked directly whether the party would offer Jonathan an automatic ticket, Woyengikuro responded:
“For me, that’s what I firmly stand for. You can quote me anywhere; I want him to come.
“An automatic ticket for him, as it stands now. Because we must salvage both this party and the nation.”
Jonathan has yet to declare any interest in the 2027 race.
