Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, says no politician, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, can defeat Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Bwala spoke on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He dismissed recent calls for Jonathan to contest, describing them as a plot to damage the former president’s reputation.
“I see that some people are trying to lure former President Goodluck Jonathan back into politics so they can destroy the good image he has built since leaving office,” Bwala said.
According to him, southern Nigeria, Jonathan’s home region, is already aligned with Tinubu, citing the support of several governors. He also questioned the sincerity of northern politicians urging Jonathan to run, recalling that some opposed him when he was in power.
“The same people in the north asking him to contest were the ones who chased him away before. What hope does he have that they now mean well for him?” He asked.

Bwala said he is convinced Tinubu would win against Jonathan or any other contender.
“If President Jonathan decides to run, there is no politician today who has the capacity to unseat President Bola Tinubu,” he declared.
Jonathan has not confirmed if he will join the race for the 2027 presidential election.
