A member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has said President Bola Tinubu will secure at least 65 per cent of the votes cast in the 2027 presidential election.
Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, made the prediction on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday while discussing Tinubu’s re-election bid and the growing disagreement between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform with 8,794,726 votes, representing 36.61 per cent of the valid votes cast.
But Jibrin said the political landscape had changed since the 2023 election and argued that the opposition should not assume that the previous election would determine the outcome of the 2027 poll.
“People are talking about the strength of the various other opposition parties and opposition figures because what they failed to realise is that 2023 is not 2027,” he said.
“I’m telling you this today: the president will have nothing less than 65 percent of the total votes cast.”
‘APC Has a Masterplan’
Jibrin said the APC had studied the opposition parties and their leading figures ahead of the election.
“We know them very well and we have our masterplan,” he said.
He added that the ruling party was ahead of its opponents and expressed confidence that it would retain the presidency.

Jibrin also said Tinubu was expected to improve his standing in northern Nigeria, attributing this to efforts to address what he described as negative perceptions about the president.
“Yes, there are challenges. Whoever said he had no challenges is like whoever said the president has not been so much falsely blackmailed in the north. He is lying,” he said.
“But again, we are correcting all of these things. And I will tell you something: the president has never been liked as much as he is at the moment in the northern part of the country.”
Jibrin Defends Wike
The lawmaker also defended Wike amid his disagreement with APC governors, describing the FCT minister as an asset to the party.
According to him, Wike remains a valuable political operator who should not be pushed aside ahead of the 2027 election.
“Wike is a fixer, and you need a fixer, and anybody who loves the president and wants us to win this election,” Jibrin said.
“I am not saying Wike is a god, but this is not a time to try to embarrass Wike or fight Wike.”
He urged the APC governors to find ways of managing their differences with the minister, while acknowledging that Wike has his own political peculiarities.
The comments come amid growing tensions between Wike and APC governors over his cross-party political activities.
Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party who was appointed a minister by Tinubu in 2023, has been associated with the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party alliance backing the president’s 2027 re-election bid.
The Progressive Governors Forum, the body of APC governors, recently said it would not support any political arrangement capable of weakening the party or affecting its candidates in the 2027 general election.
Wike subsequently criticised the APC governors, describing them as “politically lazy” and maintaining that Tinubu was aware of his political activities.
