Tinubu Nominates Kingsley Ude from Enugu as New Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Enugu State, for ministerial appointment to replace Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

The President’s request was contained in a letter read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary.

Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative action and screening.

The nomination comes after the resignation of Uche Nnaji, who represented Enugu State in Tinubu’s cabinet. Nnaji stepped down last month after controversies surrounding his academic qualifications and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate.

His exit had left Enugu State without a ministerial representative in the Federal Executive Council, prompting the President to nominate Ude to fill the vacant slot.

The Senate is expected to fix a date soon for the screening and confirmation of the nominee.
