The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched a full scale investigation into the death of a young woman, Aladi Offikwu Johnson, popularly known as Tessy, who was found unconscious and later confirmed dead in a hotel room in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Tuesday, June 18, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
According to the statement, Tessy had checked into a hotel on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on June 16 in the company of an unidentified man who was later seen leaving the premises without her. She was discovered by hotel staff with her hands tied behind her during a routine check. Medical personnel confirmed her dead shortly after.
In response to the disturbing viral video showing the unconscious victim, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances behind the tragic incident.
The Commissioner also advised young women to exercise caution in their social interactions, especially with unfamiliar individuals, and to keep trusted contacts informed of their whereabouts.
He further called on hoteliers to improve internal security measures, including mandatory guest identity checks and the use of functional surveillance systems to enhance deterrence and aid police investigations.
The FCT Police Command expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and promised that all necessary efforts are being made to bring those responsible to justice.
Further updates are expected as investigations progress.
