Plateau PDP to Hold Elective Congress Saturday

The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that it will conduct its elective congress on Saturday, October 25, 2025, to elect new executives who will steer the party’s affairs in the state.

Political observers say the decision is part of the PDP’s effort to avoid the lapses that cost it several legislative seats during the 2023 general elections, when the All Progressives Congress (APC) capitalised on internal crises and structural deficiencies within the party to secure victories through the Court of Appeal rulings.

Congress scheduled for Jos South

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Chairperson of the PDP Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the party announced that the congress would take place at the WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, in Jos South Local Government Area, starting at 10:00 a.m. prompt.

“The Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party wishes to inform its teeming members, supporters, and the general public that arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of the Plateau State Elective Congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th October 2025,” the statement read.

Ramnap said delegates from the 17 local government areas of the state, along with key stakeholders and party members, are expected to attend. She explained that the exercise aims to strengthen the party’s structure, promote unity, and deepen internal democracy within the state chapter.

The party expresses appreciation to members

The statement commended members of the PDP across Plateau State for their loyalty and peaceful conduct ahead of the congress.

“The State Working Committee expresses appreciation to members of the party across the state for their continued loyalty, commitment, and peaceful conduct,” Ramnap said.

She noted that the congress provides an opportunity for members to reaffirm their collective resolve toward building a vibrant, people-oriented PDP capable of driving development and good governance across the state.

Delegates urged to maintain peace

The commissioner urged delegates and observers to arrive early at the venue and abide by all party guidelines throughout the exercise.

“All delegates and observers are advised to arrive early, conduct themselves peacefully, and adhere strictly to the party’s guidelines for the congress,” she advised.
