Outgoing Housing Minister Hands over, Thanks Tinubu for Opportunity to Serve

The outgoing Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed  Musa Dangiwa, has formally handed over the affairs of the ministry to the Minister of State, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata,  describing his tenure as a privilege and a key contribution to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dangiwa expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him to serve as  Minister, noting that the opportunity to contribute to national development at that level remains one of the greatest honours of his public service career.

He also commended the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, for his encouragement and support, saying his nomination and confidence had been a source of inspiration and responsibility.

The former minister thanked the Permanent Secretary, management, and staff of the ministry for their professionalism and resilience, as well as his personal aides for their loyalty and dedication, which he said contributed to the effective running of the ministry.

He further acknowledged stakeholders in the built environment sector, including professionals, developers, and partner institutions, for their collaboration in driving reforms and advancing housing and urban development initiatives.

Welcoming the incoming minister, whom he described as a seasoned technocrat and engineer, he urged staff and stakeholders to extend full cooperation and support, stressing that continuity and unity of purpose were essential for progress in the sector.

“As I step aside, I remain optimistic about the future of Nigeria’s housing and urban development sector,” he said, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms would continue to yield positive outcomes for the country.

He concluded by wishing the incoming administration success and praying for the continued progress of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

On his part, Ata commended  Dangiwa for advancing key housing reforms while in office.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ata stated that the immediate past minister introduced strategic policies and initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda that expanded access to affordable homes for Nigerians, especially the low- and middle-income earners across the country.

“These initiatives were designed for effective service delivery, with clear performance indicators to ensure transparency and accountability in the deployment of public resources,” he said.
