The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council comprises zonal and state coordinators, as well as directors overseeing mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs and other areas.
In a statement announcing the council, the movement named its Director General, John Ughulu, as Director General of the campaign, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, was also listed among the campaign leadership.
The council has representatives from the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside coordinators for the 36 states.
Other portfolios include grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration.

The development is part of the movement’s preparations to mobilise support for the joint presidential ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with Peter Obi as presidential candidate and Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.
Congratulating the newly appointed members, the council’s National Secretary, Saadatu described their selection as a call to duty and urged them to take the movement’s message to communities across the country.
She said the campaign would focus on a broader national vision rather than individuals seeking personal recognition.
Saadatu added that the immediate task of the council was to ensure that the message of the movement’s principals reached voters across the country.
Dickson Warns Against Political Violence
Meanwhile, National Leader of the NDC and former Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, has urged political actors to avoid turning political differences ahead of the 2027 elections into violence, intimidation or restrictions on citizens’ democratic rights.
Dickson made the call in Abuja on Wednesday when he received the management of Leadership Newspaper, which formally notified him of his selection as the Leadership Politician of the Year 2026.
He said Nigeria’s democracy could only thrive when political parties were allowed to compete freely and citizens were able to make their political choices without fear.
Dickson also called on President Bola Tinubu to lead efforts to ease political tensions and ensure that security agencies provide a conducive environment for political parties and candidates to campaign across the country.
The Leadership newspaper’s delegation, led by its Vice Chairman, Michael Okpere, presented Dickson with the notification at his Abuja residence.
Okpere said the award recognises Dickson’s public service record, political leadership, experience in the executive and legislative arms of government and his role in the emergence of the NDC.
The award ceremony is scheduled for December 1 at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
