The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed factories belonging to Inner Galaxy Steel Company and Jiuxing Industry Limited following the alleged theft and illegal recycling of critical national infrastructure worth billions of naira.
The Corps disclosed that the action followed court-approved operations after investigations linked the companies and their accomplices to the vandalism and theft of railway materials and other critical national assets across the country.
According to the NSCDC, the crackdown marks a major escalation in the Federal Government’s efforts to combat economic sabotage, infrastructure vandalism and the alleged financing of criminal activities.
Court Orders, Raids
In a statement issued in Abuja, NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, said operatives of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’S SIS), armed with valid search warrants and court orders, stormed one of the facilities located at Birnin Yero in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He revealed that large quantities of stolen railway sleepers and tracks were recovered during the operation and have since been secured and transferred to the Nigerian Railway Corporation as exhibits for prosecution.
The NSCDC said suspects connected to the syndicate are facing serious criminal allegations, including conspiracy, theft and acts capable of endangering the safety of railway transportation.
Stolen Materials Melted Into Roofing Sheets, Nails
Babawale disclosed that investigations uncovered a coordinated network through which vandalised railway infrastructure was transported to the companies’ facilities in Aba and other locations for processing.
“The stolen steel was subsequently recycled into commercial products such as nails and roofing sheets,” he stated.
The Corps also revealed that confessional statements obtained from arrested staff members further exposed the operations of the syndicate.
Following the discoveries, the NSCDC announced the closure of the headquarters of Inner Galaxy Steel Company/Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Ltd located in Ahala Ukwa Village, Umuahala Community, Obuzor Ukwu in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
The Corps also shut down the companies’ Northern Hub situated at Tasha Rawayyah in Gusau, Zamfara State, alongside other branches and subsidiaries nationwide.
Babawale added that all Chinese nationals linked to the management of the firms have been invited for further interrogation.

Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, commended officers involved in the operation for what he described as professionalism and diligence in executing the directive.
He specifically praised the Commandant in charge of the CG’S SIS, Appollos Dandaura, for successfully leading the operation.
“Every single suspect found culpable in this bleeding of our nation’s commonwealth will face the full wrath of the law. The NSCDC remains fiercely committed to reducing infrastructure vandalism to the absolute minimum,” Audi stated.
The Corps also expressed appreciation to the judiciary for granting the legal approvals that enabled operatives to secure critical evidence without interference.
