Wike Faults Oyo Court Ruling Lifting Ban on PDP Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State has elected Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu as its new state chairman.

Halidu emerged winner in a tightly contested congress, polling 1,289 votes to defeat Yahaya Abdullahi, popularly known as Ability, who secured 1,260 votes.

Other winners at the congress include Hadi Kuta, who was elected State Secretary, while Mrs. Salomi Ndakosu clinched the position of Woman Leader with 1,373 votes against Mrs. Ramotu Jibrin, who scored 590 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Halidu called for unity among party members, stressing that collective effort was crucial to repositioning the PDP as the dominant political force in Niger State.

He expressed confidence that the party had the capacity to unseat the ruling party in the 2027 general elections, urging members to begin mobilization ahead of the November local government polls.
